Professional Teacher Philosophy Statement

I believe that all children have the potential to fulfill a special calling that has been placed on their lives by the Lord. As an Early Childhood Educator I strive to help all children set a strong foundation that will help them reach their potential, and guide them toward success throughout life. Children need a secure, caring, loving, and stimulating atmosphere that will aid in the child’s physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual development. I believe that all children should have equal opportunity and be treated with love, respect, and dignity. As an early Childhood Educator it is my role to create a loving and caring environment, and serve as a guide for the children, teaching them the differences in right and wrong, how to respect others, taking responsibility for their actions, and aid in the child’s physical and intellectual development. It is also my responsibility to ensure that the child is ready to start primary school, develop empathy and sympathy for other people, teach them how to make their own choices, and how to relay their emotions in an appropriate manner. I believe that it is important for the teacher to include the parents and families of the children in the child’s development and educational progress in the classroom. To me, this is important because normally the one thing that remains constant and concrete throughout the child’s life is their family. So it is important that the educator helps to bridge the gap from school to home. The only way that they family of the child will know what is going on in the classroom is if the teacher keeps them informed. It is important for the parents and family of the children to stay up to date on their child’s educational development to help strengthen the bond between the child and their family.
